Making Fire From bone by stephanie mines

The root systems of our undeniable unity
Are my footpaths in the forest.
My stability demands I pay attention to them.
The soles of my feet strike the strands of an endless web,
Making fire from bone,
Building an eternal alchemical flame.
Let the ash turn to gold now, Mother,
For we are at the end of time,
Let the ash turn to gold,
Shining with our universal brilliance
From a cauldron of new beginnings,
Let the ash turn to gold now, Mother,
For the children of the future.
Give us your voice in all its dialects
So that we can speak to everyone and clearly
For you.

  • What cauldron of new beginnings are you dreaming of? Begin a poem with the words, From a cauldron of new beginnings…

  • What do you want to speak about clearly and to everyone on behalf of Earth? Journal you answer, and if you are inspired to do so, turn your response into a poem.

  • Take a walk in a forest, or in any natural landscape, and allow the Earth to teach you about our “undeniable unity.” Then write down all the ways you feel connected to this great web of life.
