Frog singing by jeannette armstrong

FROG SINGING

my sister did not dream this
she found this out when she walked
outside and looked up and star
rhythms sang to her pointing their spines of light
down into her and filled her body with star song
and all around her
frogs joined the star singing
they learned it
long ago

(C) Jeannette Armstrong

  • What have you discovered by walking outside and looking at the stars? Begin a poem with the words, I did not dream this…

  • Have you ever heard the singing stars? What do they sound like? What rhythms do they carry? How is your body attuned to their song? And don’t worry if you’ve never heard them sing. Use your imagination to explore the questions.

  • What would it be like to live your life knowing that your body is filled with star song? Refyour answer in your journal.
